South West Mountain & Moorland Training Scheme
(MLTE Recognised)
Hillcraft leadership skills are a necessity for a wide range of outdoor learning applications. From Duke of Edinburgh's Award trainers and supervisors, youth group walking leaders, teachers of geology field studies in remote locations, mountain bike instructors, gorge walking leaders, the list just continues to grow.
The Summer Moorland Walking & Camping Leader qualifications which BAC offers are suitable for for leading/supervising groups on open moorland/hills. They meet the requirements of Bristol City Council's Health & Safety Policy as well as those of many other authorities and organisations.
The South West Mountain & Moorland Leader Training Committee are the organisation overseeing the SWMM qualification. It was put together by the south west counties over twenty years ago to meet the need for a local award. It has been extended to include some of the hills of South Wales .
